About the art: "From a rocky perch, I sketched this pair of Gentoo penguins caring for their two downy young at Port Lockroy on the Antarctic Peninsula. When one parent arrives from foraging in the ocean, they often perform a little ritual head bowing display as they change nest duty, and the other prepares to head off for the sea. Behind them was the towering glacier edge, one of the many spectacular backdrops I find so inspiring in the Antarctic wilderness. I spent time at Port Lockroy in Antarctic summer of 2002, and four months in 1985, while living at Palmer Station, a US science station. We had many sunny days like this one, when it was a joy to spend the day observing the Gentoo penguins on the islands. The sun cast deep shadows in the ice, contrasting with blinding reflections on the glacier and water."
Gentoo Nest I is a limited edition print of 950. Each print is signed and numbered by the artist.
The full size of the print is 16" x 20". A white border frames the 14" x 16" image. The paper is neutral pH, and acid-free. Print comes rolled.
