What:
The journey will take just over two months, walking over a total of 693 miles to the pole.
The weather is unpredictable, with temperatures ranging between -15 degrees and -50 degrees centigrade. Average yearly temperatures are around -30 degrees centigrade, with wind speeds of up to 190 miles an hour.

How:
The amateur expedition aims to walk the 625 nautical miles (693 imperial miles) from Hercules Inlet, at the edge of the Antarctic, to the South Pole during 2003.

Why:
The Oxfordshire based team have selected to donate all funds raised to the two charities: National Canine Defence League and Cancer Research UK. They are aiming to raise One Million Pounds to be divided between the two charities.
