There is evidence that during the 1820-21 austral summer, two sealing masters working from the South Shetland Islands independently landed on the Antarctic Peninsula - thus becomming the first on the continent.  The two men were John Davis, aboard Cecelia from Nantucket, on February 7, 1821, and John McFarlane, aboard Dragon from London, at an unknown date in that same season.
