Vivian Fuchs (British Commonwealth) , with an expeditionary party, reached the South Pole by motor vehicles and dog sledges on January 19, 1958, and continued across Antarctica (Weddell Sea to Ross Sea).

The vehicles were modified Ferguson farm tractors, outfitted with rubber tracks
