This spectular color image was taken from the open rear deck of a C-130 Hercules transport plane. Surrounded by the Trans-Antarctic Mountains the Beadmore Glacier is one of Antarctica's largest. This glacier has been used by many explorers and expeditions as a route to and from the South Pole.

Patrick Plaia is a professional photographer living in Eugene, Oregon. In addition to photography Patrick is a first-rate carpenter and as such went to the South Pole where he captured these unique works of art.
