This spectular color image is of an Air Guard C-130 Hercules transport plane on the skiway at the Geographic South Pole.

Behind the plane rises a contrail cloud indicative of a temperature below -40F.

Photo is drymounted on artist foam board. Acid-free double matting consists of a blue/white core inner matt, powder blue outer matt with off-white core.

Patrick Plaia is a professional photographer living in Eugene, Oregon. In addition to photography Patrick is a first-rate carpenter and as such went to the South Pole where he captured these unique works of art.
